Tejo - another traditional target game

21 August 2011

An interesting article in today's Sunday Star-Times which was orginally published in the Washington Post. Tejo (pronounced TAY-Kho) is a traditional Columbian game that has changed from a pre-Spanish distance game to a precision throw game. The introduction of the explosions appears to be a twentieth century modification.

Chanticleer Cup result

24 August 2011

The Chanticleer Match against Auckland was played in good spirit, and almost perfect weather. On Saturday Wellington came out on top, but held just a 2 point lead over night.

Auckland took the lead early on Sunday and although it went to the final round, they held out Wellington by 10 points, to snatch victory, and take the cup to Auckland.

Note: In an interesting twist, the end of Day One and Final scores were the opposite way around to those recorded in 2010.

The Wellington Senior Tri-Star team defended the trophy at the weekend in Dunedin. The trophy was won on the last Triples match when Wellington defeated Southern Black. The final scores were: Wellington 68, Southern Black 62, Canterbury 44 and Southern White 42.
