Treasurer’s Report

Financial Statement

Michael reported that there had not been many movements in the accounts which were presented at the AGM in June. This is a very quiet time for Pétanque. Membership Returns will be sent out shortly and Fees were due 15 September, 2018.

Michael moved that the report be accepted, seconded by David Corley.

Tournament Sub-Committee Report

A discussion document has been sent around to members and clubs for input regarding tournaments for the coming season. Unless there were adverse comments tournaments would follow the same pattern and dates as last year. Timed games would apply to doubles and triples up until semi-finals but not singles. Conditions would be spelled out prior to the start of competition. A Pointing Competition would be held in conjunction with the Singles.

A discussion was held regarding the Women’s Tournaments and whether they should be called Championships and given a trophy. If a men's tournament is wanted they need to make submissions. A separate questionnaire will be sent out regarding a Men's Tournament. Claire moved that the calendar be put out for the same as last year, seconded Val.

Majority in favour 1 against.

Graeme Morris will put out the calendar depending on the response to his discussion document.

As Kapiti and Horowhenua have the most pistes the main tournaments will be held at either club, but the smaller clubs would hold the smaller tournaments. If it was agreeable the Open Triples would be held at Wanganui.

General Business

Tournament Director Workshop

A Tournament Director Workshop will be held on Saturday, 4 August at Kapiti starting at 9:30 am.

Representative Team Funding

A long discussion was had regarding funding for reps to play in tournaments out of town. Kevin reported that the members attending the rep practice over the winter contributed to a fund to help cover travel expenses to Auckland for the Chanticleer Cup. It was eventually agreed that the WPA would not fund reps as there could be a shortfall in years to come but a possible solution could be to apply for a grant. The discussion on funding for reps was left open until feedback was received from clubs. It was possible that someone could be appointed to follow an application through.

Michael felt that there should be more reporting on the Rep team’s performances and results should be put on the website.

The next meeting to be held at Silverstream on Thursday, 8 November at 7:30 pm.
