Tournament Report

Graeme reported that there was nothing much happening at the moment. The Chanticleer Cup was lost to Auckland. However, the team played extremely well and most games were very close. He noted that there were a couple of Auckland players who did not (in the spirit of the tournament) qualify.

Jo pointed out that Kapiti had not been consulted re the date of the inter-club finals. Graeme apologised for this oversight.

Graeme suggested that there be 6 games on the Saturday at the Regional Singles, but the feeling of the meeting it was too late to advise players of any change and may be looked at for next season.

Graeme advised that Elva had sent an email requesting that their interclub match scheduled for October be played in Wanganui instead of Horowhenua.

Jacques Cochonnet refreshments

After discussion it was agreed to change the following rule (The host club is encouraged to provide lunch/refreshments for the challenger at the conclusion of the match...) to read refreshments and change challenger to read visitor.

It was agreed at the meeting that the challenge between Horowhenua and Masterton should be encouraged to take place midweek rather than stick to the letter of the law which requires a minimum of two weekend dates.

In future if a club has to default a match the 31 days starts from the date a club is notified of the default.

Michael is going to review Article 6 of the JC Rules for approval at a WPA meeting.

Club Kit

Noeline asked whether there is a Club Kit available for clubs to use to help run PNZ Tournaments. Apparently PNZ are putting one together.

Timer

After a good deal of discussion it was decided that a timer (costing approx. $2,000) was not the most pressing issue unless it was sponsored. Graeme thought a banner could be useful as an advertisement at tournaments.

Michael suggested that the WPA Logo be updated and if there was anybody in the WPA that could follow this up would be good. Noeline is going to approach the person that designed their new Logo for ideas.

The meeting closed at 9:30 pm.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be at Kapiti on Thursday, 17 November starting at 7:30 pm.
