WPA Committee Meeting held on Thursday 14 April 2011
at the Kapiti Pétanque Club at 7:00 pm

Previous Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting held 24th February were taken as read. Approved - G Hill / C Bradburn. Carried

Matters Arising

Richard attended the last PNZ Committee meeting and spoke in support of the Horowhenua paper. The decision regarding the holding of National Tournaments is to be reconsidered.

The National Club Championships will remain as they are for this year.

PNZ Have requested that the WPA trial the Swiss system for tournaments.

Note The original request was for $1042.00. Claire moved that the shortfall of $42.00 be paid by WPA. Seconded Colleen. Sets of Junior Boules will be held in Masterton but are available for any Club to borrow. Requests to go to Graeme Morris.

Treasurer's Report

Michael provided update of current finances. Moved by K McFadgen / B Frampton. Carried

Tournament Subcommittee

The Regional Triples and the Women's Singles have been successfully completed. There were only 16 entries in the Women's event.

Umpire's report

There is to be an Umpire's seminar at Khandallah on May 14th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with John Degueldre in attendance.

This is Gwen's last report and she thanked all umpires for their cooperation over the years. Claire moved a vote of thanks to Gwen for her efforts. Carried by all.

AGM Date and Nominations

Notice re the AGM is to be resent to all. As yet no nominations have been received. The AGM is to be followed by a WPA Committee meeting if time allows.

General Business

Championship fees, trophies, funds allocation etc.

Park Avenue Club have requested that the Tournament Sub-Committee consider the issues around trophies, fees etc in relation to tournaments and bring a remit to the AGM to be voted on by all clubs and a universal agreement reached.

WPA Awards

The forms have been issued. Please remind all club members to get nominations in early.

Wellington Sportsperson of the Year

Liz asked if we intend to nominate anyone this year. It was decided that it is too late for 2011 but we should diary this to be considered for 2012. Need to contact Sport Wellington to ensure we get timely notification next year.
