Follow up

WPA Interclub Doubles

Excellent competition. Some discussion on whether you could allow the replacement of two players in a team rather than one. Meeting did not agree with this idea. Defaults have proved a problem this year. Suggested that clubs reduce the number of teams and have more reserves. Agreed to discuss this problem before the start of next year's competition. Set rain day for final at start of competition. Suggested that the rain day should be a week later with a back up being the 3rd Sunday in October. Drop the overall team trophy.

WPA Singles Championship

The number of entries was up on 1998. Good tournament

Jacques Cochonnet Challenge

Khandallah are the current holders. Draw for next round of challengers: Park Avenue (Nov/Dec), Wellington (Jan), Porirua (Feb), Silverstream (Mar), Upper Hutt (Apr), Masterton (May), Manawatu (Jun), Hataitai (Jul), Kapiti (Aug).

Venue Park Avenue. Dinner to be held on the Saturday evening. Registration by the 20th November

Minor alterations to brochure. OK to go ahead and publish.

NZPA Report

Graeme reported that the NZPA is looking at the structure of pétanque in NZ i.e., Regional and club structure. Some problems where pétanque clubs are attached to bowling clubs. In many cases they are constitutionally part of the bowling club.

WPA Calendar Update

Add to calendar the Masterton Pétanque Club Melee. Held on the 3rd Sunday of every month (except December).

General Business

Oceania Tournament

Brenda suggested that Wellington could host the 2002 tournament. To be discussed further.

Club Reports

• Porirua gained some new members via the pétanque they ran at Mana College.
• Khandallah have got 21 entries for their 3 Boule Triples.
• Thanks to Kapiti for hosting the WPA lnterclub Finals and the WPA Singles Championship.
• Park Avenue ran the pétanque for the Business House Games.
• Hataitai had an interesting trip to Nelson; held a social evening with their bowling club; starting their summer season of corporate events.
• Upper Hutt now has access to club rooms.
• Masterton held its AGM.
