Matters Arising

Amendments to Minutes of 17.6.99 meeting

Agreed to reimburse Brian $150 for production of WPA Resource Manuals
WPA affiliaton fee to be based on club membership as at 31.10.99

WPA Resource Manual

Distributed 23 manuals. Revenue from manuals $245.00

Update

WPA Interclub Doubles

• Final day at Kapiti Pétanque Club Start time 9:00am for 9:30am start
• Trophy for winning club and certicates for members of the club's teams. Peter to produce certificates
• Winning team of each pool to receive a trophy
• Trophy for overall winning team

Defaults

• This year has been particularly bad for the number of defaults
• Some intense discussion on a solution. Hatatai suggested that a team could be replaced if they were unable to participate. Some support for this idea.
• However, the consensus at this stage was that the clubs should take responsibility for ensunng their teams turn up to play
• The meeting agreed to put the discussion on hold for early next year

Format

Some concerned expressed re Round 2 Pools where one or two clubs had a number of their teams in the same pool.

It was suggested that the Round 2 format should be adjusted to avoid this happening. It was pointed out that this could look like the pools were being fiddled

WPA Singles Championship 2/3 October

Venue: Kapiti Pétanque Club
Start Time: 930am (Saturday &Sunday)
Entry Fee: $10.00 per player
Registration by: 24th September
Format: The Tournament Committee to set format.

WPA: Promotion & Publicity

Wellington edition of the "Sportz Plus" magazine

Meeting decided this was not a suitable vehicle for pétanque.

Sportmedia proposal

Decided to give this proposal a go. Trial run with the Interclub Final.

WPA Brochure

Update WPA brochure (Brian) and distribute throughout the regions' Information Centres and any other suitable outlets.

NZPA Report

Graeme reported on the recent two day NZPA Committee meeting. The committee is working well and good progress is being made.

• NZPA Doubles allocated to Wellington at the end of November.
• NZPA Open Doubles to remain in Auckland for the time being.
• NZPA Tnples to be held in Auckland, Easter 2000.
• Structure of NZPA moving away from individual to club and region. In future fundraising to be done by the regions and clubs.

WPA Calendar Update

• Calendar is being updated regularly and emailed to club delegates.
• Wellington will host the NZPA Doubles on 27th & 28th November at Park Avenue. Social function to be organised for Saturday night. The Specialty Spit roast Catering Company to be used again.
• The WPA Doubles moved from March 2000 back to November 13th &14th November.
• Rotorua doubles scheduled for 11th & 12th March 2000.

General Business

Westpac Business Games 10.10.99

Pétanque to be held at Park Avenue.

Gerard reported on a visit from Mike Andrews (Blenheim)

Blenheim are increasing the number of pistes.
Gerard involved in running a course on pétanque at Porirua College. Hopefully it will mean some new members for the Porirua Club.

Donation towards travel costs of the Bay View team to the World Championships

Moved: "That the WPA donate $100 to the Bay View team to assist with their travel costs"

Portable Lighting

Dirk to investigate portable lightlng (Mitre 10?). If suitable the WPA will purchase a set or sets and they will be available for use by clubs.

Club Reports

• Most clubs report a small amount of activity.
• Khandallah promoting their "3 Boules Triples".
• Kapiti to hold an open day for Secondary Schools.
• Silverstream trying to increase the number of pistes. The Bowling Club is proving a little difficult. Could move away to an area in Pinehaven.
