Matters arising

Junior Development: No interest in proposed training day.

WPA Singles Championship - Review

Stay with format ie. "Open" and "Reserve" Tournament. Next year allow the teams that are knocked out from Round (1) of Open to play in the Reserve Tournament.

Jacques Cochonnet Club Challenge

Agreed that each club can chose their players to make up a team. The order in which the challengers are drawn remains for one year. Jeff Kennedy (Caffe L'Affare) to be approached re his offer to provide a trophy.

Tournament Committee

Brian, Dirk, Graeme and Gerard elected to the Tournament Committee (Moved: Ralph, Seconded: Phil)

Committee to handle the following tournaments:

• WPA Doubles (24 & 25 1.99)
• WPA Triples (20 & 21 3 99)
• Air NZ National Triples (3 & 4.4.99)

WPA Internet Site

Peter congratulated for his work on the Internet site. Clubs have been asked to submit photos and details for their club page.

NZPA Committee Report

Brian outlined the problems with the way the NZPA Committee is working. Meeting agreed that at the next AGM, Wellington should put up names for election to the Committee.

General Business

Club Reports

• Wellington: Gerard moving to Kapiti coast but will stay with Wellington Club.
• Park Avenue: Held AGM. Barbara elected President. Terrain to be sprayed with weed killer and a new layer of crushed lime to be put down.
• Khandallah: Now have a reasonably good relationship with the bowling club.
• Silverstream: Proposed extension of terrain into car park put on hold.
• Masterton: Holding Wednesday night "Melees". Gerard to hold a coaching day. Crushed to be laid over terrain. Triples tournament confirmed for end of February 1999.
• Kapiti: Special General Meeting to be held to decide new location for club. The 4th Form French classes from Kapiti and Paraparaumu Colleges shown how to play pétanque. Inter college challenge to be held in December. Club to hold pnmary schools day to learn to play pétanque.
• Hataitai: Steady growth in membership. 4th terrain completed.
• Upper Hutt: The "Continuous Melee" held over the last few months was reasonably sucessful. Club members meeting Wednesday nights at 6.30 pm to play in a "ladder" competition. Proposing 3 one day doubles tournaments for January, February and March 1999. To be called the "Upper Hutt Classic Series". Information to be sent out in December.

Business Tournament

Neil to follow up the idea of running a Business Tournament. (something similar to the pétanque tournament held in the recent Business House Games)
