Liz Rocks

3 July 2019

It is with sadness that the Khandallah Club advise that Liz Rocks passed away on Sunday, 30 June. Liz and husband Michael joined the club in May 1999 after moving to Wellington from Christchurch.

In 2002 Liz, and team mates Barbara Johnston and Claire Wilson, qualified to represent NZ at the Oceania Championship in Noumea, New Caledonia. In 2003, Liz, Sharon Cannon and Roy Zeier were runners-up in the National Triples at Mt. Albert.

Subsequently, Liz became a National Selector, managing the New Zealand team that won the Trans Tasman at Horowhenua (Levin) in 2006. Later that year she managed both the Men's and Women's teams to the World Championship in Grenoble, France. This was the first time that a New Zealand Women's team had taken part in the World Championship.

Liz also managed the 2007 Trans Tasman team in Melbourne, Australia.

In accordance with Liz’s wishes a private cremation has been held. There will be a celebration of Liz’s life on Tuesday, 9 July. Please contact Michael for details.

Donations in lieu of flowers for the Wellington Free Ambulance in memory of Liz would be appreciated and may be sent to PO Box 601, Wellington 6140 or online at www.wfa.org.nz
