Wanganui East with Trophy

The Central Districts Trophy was held on Sunday, 29 July at Wanganui. The day started off in sunshine, only for a torrential downpour to hit during the second game.

With everyone soaked and pistes starting to flood the decision was made to stop at 3 games.

As soon as this happened out came the sun and the remaining 3 rounds were able to be played.

Final Results

  1. Wanganui East 36½
  2. Horowhenua 25½
  3. Otaki 18½
  4. Manawatu 15½

Jacques Cochonnet Trophy Challenge

Otaki with Jacques

Otaki’s third defence of the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy was at home to Manawatu. After the first round, Manawatu led Otaki by 2 games to 1.

In the second round, Otaki won the Doubles and Triples to tie the match 3-3.

In the final round, Otaki won the Doubles and Manawatu won the Singles, so it all came down to the Triples. Otaki won the Triples to take the match 5-4 and retain the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy.

Otaki’s next defence is away to Upper Hutt.
