The PNZ Rankings (then called Seedings) were introduced in 1999 and the number one spot was held by Niau Ruta (Auckland). By the end of 2000, Georgio Vakauta had taken over the top position and it would appear has maintained that position ever since.
In the intervening years, several players have made a charge for the number one position but have not managed the consistency over two years to dethrone Georgio.
Until now, that is. With his success in the National Triples, Andre Noel has won five of the last six National Championships and has been rewarded with the position of the number one ranked player in the country. Georgio, with 4 National titles and a quarter-final placing is now in second place.
