Michael Rocks (Khandallah) went one better than last year to claim the Champion of Champions - Singles title at Silverstream. In the final he beat Annick Le Guen (Kapiti).

Italy won the World Junior (Under 18) Championship in Monastir, Tunisa, beating France 13-6 in the final. Poland beat Monaco 13-8 to win the Nations Cup. The Shooting Competition was won by Sarayoot Kaewpudpong (Thailand).
Australia finished third equal in the Nations Cup.

If there is enough interest Kapiti Pétanque are organising an over 70 fun tournament. The tentative date is Wednesday 2nd December.

Thirty-two players took part in the National Singles at Bay View with local players to the fore in the Trophy section. Maurice Belz (Bay View) defeated Sharon Cannon (Bay View) 13-7 to win his first National title.
Andrew Joe (Windy Hills) won the Plate, Helene Hay (Masterton) the Bowl, and Ian Hay (Napier) the Bowl Consolation.

The PNZ Board are holding an Open forum on Saturday 17 October from 2:00 pm at the Park Avenue Pétanque club, Treadwell Steet, Naenae. This forum is open to all WPA club members. The format is a Question and Answer session.
The forum allows members to ask questions, air concerns, make suggestions and provide feedback to the Board members.
A similar forum was held in Auckland in August.

Dirk Winnie will be running another Regional Training day on Saturday 17 October. The venue is the Park Avenue Pétanque club, Treadwell Steet, Naenae. The session will start at 10:00 am and conclude at 2:00 pm.
The cost is $5 per person and is open to any WPA member.

Park Avenue retained the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy by beating Upper Hutt. The match was played at a neutral venue (Silverstream) due to the flooding of the Park Avenue terrain.

Eleven and a half of the fourteen teams decided to play despite the wet weather, with one non-Senior added to remove the Bye. National Senior Champions Doug and Helene Hay (Masterton) went through undefeated to claim the top spot.

Thirty-two teams took part in the Regional Doubles held at the Kapiti Pétanque Club. In a new format, teams played in three rounds of barrage competition before finishing off with a knockout in eight dvisions.
In a repeat of last year's final, Nicolas Jegousse and Michael Rocks beat Andrew Joe and Dean Norman to retain their Doubles title.

Seven clubs took part in the Champion of Champions - Doubles at Wanganui East. The club team of Morgan Choveaux and Annick Le Guen finished in first place on countback from Brian Bradburn/Claire Bradburn (Silverstream) and Doug Hay/Helene Hay (Masterton).
