PNZ National Doubles

11 November 2007

Fifty teams from through the country took part in the National Doubles at the Horowhenua club in Levin. Due to the numbers taking part and the availability of terrains, the first day's qualifying round of six games was cut back to five games. This saw a number of new faces appearing in the top 16 as several of the favoured teams failed to qualify.

David Lippard and Dirk Winnie improved on their third placing from last year to claim their first National Doubles Championship. In the final they beat Myles Cowper (Windy Hills) and Enoka Smiler (Park Avenue).

Dirk Winnie now has a set of National titles, having previously won the Singles (1999) and Triples (2004). This is David Lippard's first national title after several second placings in the last few years.
