General Business

Future Meeting dates

Kevin to prepare a list of potential dates. The clubs present agreed to hold future meetings on Saturday mornings rather than Thursday evenings.

Confirmation of the calendar for the remainder of the year

The tournament subcommittee was asked to check with clubs regarding their availability to hold events. Due to the expected number of entries, Regional Championships are limited to those clubs with larger terrains. However, the smaller clubs can host Champion of Champion events.

The WPA Open Triples should also be moved about the region in future. There is no need to tie the event to the Haines Cup match.

Change to the tournament entry conditions

In order to encourage participation in both regional and national events, it was agreed that the winners of the Regional Singles, Regional Doubles, Regional Senior Doubles, Regional Triples and the Women’s Triples will have their entry paid for by the WPA in the following national championship.

Note that the winning team must enter as a team in the national championship, it is for the immediately following national championship and no cash equivalent will be offered.

For the winning team in the WPA Open Triples, the WPA will pay their entry fee to the following NZ International Open Triples. The stipulation is that the winning team must play as a team in the NZ Open Triples.

For the winning club in the Regional Inter-club competition, the WPA will pay the club’s entry fee in the following National Club Championship.

In the event that the winning club enters two teams in the National Club Championships, only one team entry will be paid by the WPA. In the event that winning team enters a composite team in the National Club Championship then the entry fee will not be paid.

Meeting closed at 11:45 am.
