Kevin welcomed all to the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting held 20 November 2014 were taken as read. Acceptance proposed by Kevin, seconded Graeme. Carried.
None.
Reply to the submission received from a group of players re the decision around timed games telling them that Kevin is to write a letter to be distributed and a response requested.
10 replies were received. 6 clubs voted for the change and 4 clubs against therefore all tournaments will now be played to 60 minutes plus two ends if required.
Acceptance moved by Kevin. Seconded by Liz. Michael reported that Affiliation Fees are due this weekend and it appears there is a slight decrease in membership. The financial year ends on 30 April.
Graeme commented that this weekend is the first tournament since the last meeting. The reports on the Annual Haines and Tri Star events were issued. It was pointed out that the Interclub competition may need to be reformatted due to the loss of the Park Avenue terrain. Round 3 for this year on 7 March will need to find a new location. Report acceptance moved by Kevin, seconded by Claire.
Jack Gazzard is officiating at some tournaments where he is not playing. More umpires are required. Trevor Neilson of PNZ is planning to hold refresher courses in 2015.
Kevin will contact the group to set up a meeting for possible discussion and cooperation. Claire expressed interest in attending also.
Graeme stated that 3 dates have been set up for coaching and participants have been found. A budget was received by WPA. Michael queried the costs due to a previous decision that events of this type should be self-funded. Graeme pointed out that 46 people have requested coaching and there is a definite need. Discussion was then held around this.
Claire spoke as PNZ member responsible for coaching and stated that the current board is trying to set up a programme to be continuous but this will take time.
Kevin then said he believes the programme should continue as is by asking for funds from those receiving the coaching. Kevin then proposed that the 3 coaching days currently set up should go ahead and a request for payment of $10 should be made to each participant. Seconded by Jo Maxwell.
Michael recommended that we purchase banners to advertise tournaments and games. Clubs are happy for WPA to investigate some signage.
Meeting closed at 5:30 pm. Next meeting will be at Kapiti on Thursday, 9 April 2015 at 7:30 pm.
