Haines Cup match

12 December 2010

Once again the result of the Haines Cup match came down to the final game of Triples. Hawke's Bay took the early lead in the Singles, winning 8 games to 4. The Doubles were then shared 3 games each.

The first round of Triples saw Hawke's Bay extend their lead when they won 3 games to 1. This gave Hawke's Bay an overall ten point lead.

With twelve points on offer in the final round, Wellington needed to win all four Triples games to retain the Cup. Over the next 90 minutes, Wellington won 3 games and with the final game at 9-9, everything depended on the outcome of this game which finally went Wellington's way to give them a narrow 25-23 point win.

Khandallah 2-Boules Doubles Melee

30 December 2010

The Khandallah club will be running two twilight events on Wednesday 12 and Wednesday 19 January.

Both will feature the new game of 2-Boules, which has been designed to encourage and develop both pointing and shooting.

Games are limited to 30 minutes and use a match play format (you score a point for winning an end, not the number of holding boules you have) of 11 ends.

You may enter the first, the second or both events.

Further details on the game of 2-Boules will be advised shortly.

The allocation of Ranking points for the National Doubles on the PNZ website have been changed. This will hopefully reverse the points shrinkage that has been occurring since the final day categories were changed a few years ago. The table has been modified to reflect the new points allocation.

Helene Hay also moves up one spot to 22nd.
