Masterton Midwinter Doubles

1 June 2008

Joan Miller and Claire Wilson (Masterton) defeated Michael Emerson (Herne Bay) and Zac Rees (Windy Hills) to win the Midwinter Doubles.

The defending champions Christian Fouquet and Brian Smith won the Plate.

Masterton retained the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy by beating Horowhenua by 6 games to 3 in their match at Levin.

Doubles: Barb Johnston/Ralph Priddle vs. Carleen Fitzgerald/Ophir Macdonald 13-1, 13-2, 9-13;
Triples: Graeme Burnard/Murray Johnston/Graeme Morris vs. Sandy MacDonald/Shirl MacDonald/Shona Whale 7-13, 10-13, 13-5.

Masterton's next defence is at home to Park Avenue.

Park Avenue started their challenge strongly against Masterton winning 2 of the 3 first round matches. However, Masterton fought back winning 5 of the remaining 6 games to secure the match 6-3.
