Charles Fleming Memorial Mêlée

The Charles Fleming Memorial Mêlée was held on Saturday 1 October 2022 at Kapiti Pétanque Club. This is an annual event sponsored by Rymans.

Three games were played before tucking into a barbequed sausage or two for lunch. Having refuelled, it was back for a further two games.

The WPA Regional Doubles winners

Twenty two teams took part in the Regional Doubles Championship held at the Kapiti Pétanque club on Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 October.

All who played enjoyed the fine weather and friendly competition.

The winners (left to right above) were :
Trophy: Christine Strichen & Claire Wilson (Wanganui East)
Plate:   Graeme Morris (Masterton) & Ann Hogg (Horowhenua)
Bowl:   Lynne Shepherd (Kapiti) and Richard Turfrey (Wanganui East)

Jacques Cochonnet Trophy Challenge

The JC participants

Naenae challenged Silverstream for the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy on Saturday 22 October 2022.

Both teams were well supported with four of the Naenae players competing in their first JC match.

All games were hard fought but Silverstream prevailed seven to two.

The day was extra special for Seyjay Harawira (Silverstream) who celebrated his 18th birthday by winning his three singles matches. It was his first JC defence.

Silverstream's next defence is away at Manawatu.
