Club Reports

Manawatu

Ron Sandilandes has just passed away.

Wanganui East

Won the Jacques Cochonnet from Otaki and will defend it against Silverstream. They have 56 players enrolled for a melee next Saturday.

Masterton

Alterations and strengthening of their building has finished but Graeme thinks it was better before the alterations.

Otaki

Won the Jacques Cochonnet but lost it to Wanganui. Club numbers are down but they can still host the Open Triples. 21st Birthday coming up.

Silverstream

Just received a new member two weeks old, now have two families with 3 generations.

Upper Hutt

Upgrades to their grounds have been completed and attract much interest. Parking is a problem on Sundays.

Naenae

16 players today, water lying on pistes from recent rain.

Kapiti

Reasonable turnouts and a few new members.

Hataitai and Horowhenua

No report.

General Business

Incorporated Societies; Brian gave a brief rundown on the requirements of the new Incorporated Societies Act. Claire (Bradburn) and Simon will look at amending the present constitution in line with the requirements of the new Act. Target date is 31 December to have the constitution reviewed by a lawyer in the new year, and ratified at the WPA 2024 AGM.

Email scams:

Brian has received several email scams, fake invoices for goods or services. Michael, the previous Treasurer, confirmed these had happened before and usually came in batches for a few months. If anyone has an invoice due for payment, please send Brian a text message beforehand to advise a genuine invoice coming.

Defibrillators;

Myles was due to report on the availability and costs of defibrillators in March, but we haven’t seen him since. The Clubs present, except Otaki and Kapiti, have access to defibrillators not too far away. Silverstream may have to break into their building. Kapiti have requested a grant for one and will provide feedback on costs etc. The situations at Horowhenua and Hataitai are unknown.

Other business

Chanticleer Cup, Catering;

There was a budget of $600 approved for catering at the Chanticleer Cup to be competed for in Palmerston North the weekend after next. This has now been costed at $650.

Kevin moved the approval to spend $650. Seconded Val. Carried.

Chanticleer Cup Coaching;

Graeme would have difficulty getting to Palmerston North for the next two weekends.

Kevin moved Claire (Bradburn) be appointed Assistant Coach to travel to Palmerston North in Graeme’s place. Seconded Val. Carried.
