Participants in the Champion of Champions Triples

Seven clubs took part in the Champion of Champions Triples at the Horwhenua club. The format was a single round robin with games limited to 50 minutes, plus 1 end.

Kapiti were the pre-tournament favourites having captured the Singles and Doubles at the Nanenae. They started with a big win against Horowhenua only to lose to Silverstream in the second round.

In the third round, Horowhenua won their first game beating Silverstream. In round four, Kapiti defeated the previously unbeaten Manawatu. With Horowhenua also defeating Manawatu, Kapiti were able to sew up the title by beating Naenae in the final game.

Otaki's first defence of the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy was at home to neighbours Horowhenua. In the first round, Horowhenua won both the Singles and Doubles to take a 2-1 lead.

In the second round Horowhenua won the Singles and the Triples to extend their lead. Needing to win all 3 games in the final round, Otaki lost the Doubles to hand the match to Horowenua 5-2 (the last Singles and Triples games were not completed).

Horowhenua's first defence match is away at Masterton.

Murrayfield Open Triples

Twenty-two teams took part in the twelfth Murrayfield Open Triples at Otaki. The leading teams after the five round random draw were:
