Horowhenua's first defence of the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy was away at Masterton. In the first round, Horowhenua won both the Doubles and Triples to take a 2-1 lead.
In the second round Horowhenua won all three games to retain the Trophy. The last round games were not played due to the poor weather.
Horowhenua's next defence match is away at Wanganui East.
It is with sadness that the Kapiti club advise that Fay Doyle passed away on 4 June. Fay joined the Club in 1997.
Two years later she was elected Club President, before moving into the position of President of the Wellington Petanque Association. Following this term Fay took on the role of Kapiti Club Captain.
During her time with the Club, Fay has played in various tournaments with great success. She was Club Triples Champion 3 times between 2001 and 2011. She has also represented the Club in the Casey Cup, Jacques Cochonnet and WPA Interclub.
Fay won the Regional Women's Singles Championship in 2006 and Champion of Champions Triples in 2011. Fay represented Wellington against Auckland in the Chanticleer Cup (2013), Hawke's Bay (2003 & 2013) and against Canterbury in The Clash in 2003.
Fay, along with Kath Alison, ran coaching sessions for club members. These two also ran the Over 70's tournament for several years. Fay was made a Life member, which she had definitely earned. Farewell, Fay, we will miss you.
Fay's funeral will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, 8 June at Our Lady of Kapiti Parish, 1 Presentation Way, Paraparaumu.
Hawke's Bay Autumn Triples

The HB Autumn Triples, in association with the Station Bar and Bistro, attracted a strong field of contestants from around the North Island clubs.
In the teams there where this year's national champions, previous national title holders and also international representatives.
One member of the winning team, Lee Taffard has won this competition four times previously with other teams since the first tournament in 2005.
Horowhenua's second defence of the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy was away at Wanganui East. An interesting twist, Horowhenua fielded the same team that played Masterton earlier in the month and the draw saw the same combinations.
In the first round, Wanganui East won the Singles and Doubles to lead 2-1. In the second round, Horowhenua won two games to tie the score.
The last round featured three close gamnes with Horowhenua winning two of them to retain the Trophy.
Horowhenua's next defence match is away at Manawatu.
Fourteen teams have entered the Khandallah Winter Doubles this Sunday.

Khandallah Winter Doubles

Thirteen teams took part in the Khandallah Winter Doubles after one team had to pull due to Covid exposure.
After the four qualifying rounds, the teams were ranked one to thirteen. Team 1 played 2 for the final round, 3 played 4 and so on down to 11 against 12. The thirteenth team had the Bye.
Bottles of wine were presented to the final round winners and blocks of chocolate were awarded to the runners up. The thirteenth team were both given a bag of raspberry/chocolate balls.
