Regional Triples Championship

1 March 2022

Participants in the Regional Triples Championship

Eighteen teams entered the Regional Triples Championship at Horowhenua. Unfortunately, one team had to withdraw due to being a Covid close contact.

The new one day format meant that teams couldn't muck around if they wanted to secure a top 8 spot and stay in the hunt for a Regional title. At the end of qualifying, four teams had recorded 4 wins and five had recorded 3 wins. Ngaire Eriksen, Graham Jackson & Susan Robertson were the unlucky team to finish in ninth position.

The Trophy final saw the 2020 Champions, Annick, Christine and Claire against the 2021 Champions, Myles, Murray and Michael. The "Boys" took the early lead, only for the "Girls" to sprint past before the scores were tied 12-12. The final end saw some wayward pointing from the Boys before Christine killed the end with boules in hand to reclaim the title.

The Plate final was won by Val Clark, Carleen Fitzgerald & Barbara Nicholls who pipped Christine Daykin, Yvonne Futcher & Tony Simpson 10-9.

In June 2019, Upper Hutt's first defence of the Jacquest Cochonnet Trophy was away at Naenae. Unfortunately, their tenure as holder was shortlived as they lost the match 3-6.

Thirty-three months later, Upper Hutt's first defence of the Jacques Chochonnet Trophy was away to Naenae. This time history didn't repeat as they won the match 6-3.
