WPA Shooting Competition

The video of the 2021 WPA Shooting Competition final between Annick Le Guen (Kapiti) and Michael Rocks (Khandallah) is now on the Wellington Pétanque YouTube channel.

This was the third time that Annick and Michael had competed in the final. Michael won the first encounter in 2018, Annick won the second in 2020.

A maximum field of 48 entries celebrated Bastille Day at the annual event held by Masterton Petanque Club. The full field of players enjoyed the day especially the fine weather.

Jacques Cochonnet Trophy Challenge

Horowhenua's third defence of the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy was away at Manawatu. In the first round, Manawatu had a clean sweep, winning all three games.

In each of the second and third rounds, Horowhenua won two games but it was not enough.

Manawatu narrowly won the trophy, winning five games to four overall.

The heroes for Manawatu were the triples, who won all of their three games.

Manawatu's first defence match is at home against Silverstream.
