The Baine Trophy, donated by Jean & the late Ian Baine, is played annually between the Hutt Valley clubs (Naenae, Silverstream & Upper Hutt). The 2022 event was played at Naenae on Saturday 13th August with over 40 players participating.
Two teams from Upper Hutt were unbeaten yet Silverstream were worthy winners with a superior average score per team. Four out of six Silverstream pairs lost just one game.
Naenae put up a good fight but were not good enough to match their northern rivals.

Eight teams took part in the rescheduled Khandallah Winter Triples. The possible afternoon showers arrived just as play started, but they didn't last long.
A late withdrawal due to illness meant that tournament organiser Michael Rocks ended up playing. His team of Mary Khalil and Brian Smith squeaked into the final with a trio of narrow wins, before taking out the last game against Anne Grant/Simon Grant/Paul Haines.
Like the Winter Doubles, this was a tournament of wine for the winners of the last game and chocolate for the runners-up.
