Treasurer’s Report:

Brian gave an indication of the improved income if the Affiliation Fees were increased to $5 per member, the increase would be $1600 on present membership. This will be put forward at the AGM. He also reported that he had difficulty in allocating tournament fees to either the Women’s Triples or the Regional Triples and suggested that a two letter reference be put on the Entry Form. He also suggested that a Tournament Director’s fee be paid to the TD of the Interclub at a fee of $80 plus expenses. It was moved by Brian that this proposal be put forward at the AGM, seconded by Graeme.

WPA tournaments / Events:

Eighteen teams are playing in the Regional Triples on 15th Feb and we had 20 teams at the Open Triples in December. It was discussed whether the Triples should be a one day or a two day event and whether we needed the two tournaments as there were no outside entries. This will be brought up at the AGM. Claire suggested that thoughts be canvassed about giving medals to 3rd = players or having 3rd and 4th play off for a trophy.

Umpiring:

Clive umpired the Women’s Triples and will be umpiring the Regional Triples, he will also be mentoring Trish Smart from Manawatu, who may go for her Regional Umpires Certificate.

Clive will be mentoring Paul and Dave from Upper Hutt at the Champion of Champions Singles and Doubles on the Saturday and leave them to umpire on their own on the Sunday. The umpire for the C of C Triples at Wanganui East will be Tony Simpson as he will not be playing. Graeme will umpire the Women’s Singles and Doubles Tournaments if his back has recovered. The National Club Tournament is coming up shortly and he will be an umpire at this event.

Website:

Anne hasn’t been very well lately and probably needs a back-up. It was discovered that she does not have total control of the website and that it was decided that a call be made to members for help to sort this issue out. Kevin will talk to Anne to see what she would like to happen.

Club Reports:

Wanganui East

Claire reported that Louse Sligo passed away early January and that she had been a founding member of Silverstream. The club was ticking along and getting a good turnout on club days.

Manawatu

Going well but a bit hard getting players for tournaments.

Horowhenua

Going well and lots of members entering tournaments particularly in Otaki or Kapiti.

Otaki

Regional Triples on Saturday. Have 3 new members 2 of whom played in the Women’s Triples and the Charity Event plus are playing on Saturday.

Kapiti

Lost Kath Allison late last year. New members are turning up regularly. Held the 2 nd round of the Casey Cup on Wednesday and use this event to encourage newer players to have a go as it is only 3 games. They had good entries in the Kapiti Open.

Silverstream

Had 15 at the charity match. Had a family and friends day recently and some players indicated they might join. 14 teams entered in the Women’s Triples and it was Theresa’s first tournament she has run and all went well.

Upper Hutt

Membership hovering around 50. Held the Charity event which was a great success. Michelle helped out. Their AGM is next week. Usually have 20- 25 members turnup on club days.

Masterton

Thanks to everyone who helped out at the Charity event and thanks to those that entered. Their AGM is on Sunday. Good numbers on club days. Open Triples next weekend and have 12 teams entered. Once a month on a Friday night they have a social event with takeaways.

Naenae

Stable membership about 40, progressing nicely.

General Business:

Incorporated Societies Act; Draft Constitution needs to be ratified at the AGM. A Special Meeting will be held early March (possibly 6th March) to go over the details.

Hataitai. Have since paid for 7 members and provided a list of names.

Clive pointed out that Club Shirts needed to be worn at the Interclub Event and at Champion of Champions Events. It was also beneficial for the Umpire to see who was in the team. It has also been recommended (but not compulsory) to wear co-ordinated shirts at all team events.

The Trans Tasman will be lived streamed.

Meeting closed 8:40pm
