Naenae defence of the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy was at home to Manawatu.
Naenae successfully defended the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy against Manawatu. After the first round it appeared that Manawatu had mastered the tricky Naenae terrain better than the hosts.
Manawatu started winning two of the three first round games. In the second round Naenae fought back and won all three games. In the last round Naenae won all three games again to retain the trophy 7-2.
Ten teams took part in the rescheduled Winter Doubles at Khandallah. After some early morning rain (described by Met Service as occassional showers), the weather remained fine for the duration of the event.
Jo and Michelle Maxwell were the only undefeated team after the 4 qualifing games and they continued on their winning way to clain first spot beating Dave Marrison and Bruce Stephensoson 11-7 in the final.
Interesting, the odd ranked team beat the even ranked team in all 5 finals.

Khandallah Winter Triples
25 July 2021
Participants in the Khandallah Winter Triples
Eleven teams took part in the Winter Triples at Khandallah. Thankfully, the flash flooding of the previous weekend had no impact on the terrain.
The odd number of teams meant that the planned Snake & Knockout was replaced with a 5 round Swiss.
Kathy, Tony and Bronwyn won their opening 4 games, but slipped in the final round to lose to Moises, Dave and Brian. However, they retained top spot on SOS points after facing the strongest field.
